3年一次的東港迎王平安祭典

 

東港迎王將在今年10月10日到10月12日。東港迎王平安祭是東港每三年一次的年度重要祭典。在台灣的王爺信仰與祭典文化中，東港迎王平安祭典佔有極重要的地位，對致力於傳承百年傳統文化的東港迎王活動來說是實至名歸的肯定與榮耀。

三年一次的「東港迎王平安祭典」，東港居民為了迎接代天巡狩千歲爺的駕臨，幾乎總動員，為期8天的祭典，從請王、繞境、宴王到送王，祭祀科儀完全遵照古禮，東港鎮處處可見喧囂熱鬧的繞境神轎與陣頭、虔誠膜拜的信徒，尤其，精雕細琢、彩繪華麗的王船更引人注目，當您有機會在迎王平安祭典到東港旅遊時，不妨深入體會在地的文化熱情。

東港迎王的由來：
台灣是個島國所以早期居民都以捕魚為生。漢人來台灣開墾，生活條件非常困苦。由於荊棘遍野，醫療不發達和衛生習慣不佳所以瘟疫肆虐。居民就祈求上天請王爺下凡，由王爺把瘟疫帶走。因此會將載有王爺的船火化，恭送王爺，也同時把瘟疫送走，為全鄉帶來祥和吉利。

10 Oct to 12 Oct 2015 ~ Taiwan's Boat Burning Festival ! Once every 3 years.... If you miss this year 2015, another 3 years of waiting.

This is one of Taiwan's top folk festivals. It involves inviting gods to earth, feasting them, and then asking them to carry trouble-causing demons and plague away with them on a boat. In the spectacular conclusion to the festival, the boat is torched to the ground on the beach.

Donggang is also famous for Sakura prawn and Otoro !!
