認識新台幣 About New Taiwan Dollar

目前2000和200台幣紙鈔並不流行，20塊的硬幣也很少見，看到可以留下來當紀念喔!
2000 and 200 NTD notes are not popular in Taiwan, so is 20NTD coin. So if you get one, you can consider keeping it as a souvenir!!

另外，台灣人講英文時，習慣用Dollar來代表 Taiwan Dollar，不要以為是美元喔!這是台灣人的英文習慣!
Besides, Taiwanese get used to call NTD as Dollar when speaking English. Please do not misunderstand. What we mean is NTD. We don't use US dollar in Taiwan. It's just our habit to say so. :P

新台幣?? 所以舊台幣是什麼??
1949年6月15日，臺灣省政府公布「臺灣省幣制改革方案」、「新臺幣發行辦法」，「實行幣制改革」[6]，正式發行新臺幣，規定舊臺幣40,000元折合新臺幣1元。臺語俗語「四萬換一箍」由此而生，意即「四萬換一元」。

New Taiwan Dollar?? So what is Old Taiwan Dollar?
The New Taiwan dollar was first issued by the Bank of Taiwan on June 15, 1949, to replace the Old Taiwan dollar at a 40,000-to-1 ratio. The first goal of the New Taiwan dollar was to end the hyperinflation that had plagued Taiwan and Mainland China due to the Chinese civil war fought in mainland China. A few months later, the ROC government under the Kuomintang (KMT) was defeated by the Chinese communists and retreated to Taiwan.
